Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has praised striker Marcus Rashford attitude for staying focused despite the pressure around the world, even after scoring in the 3-0 win over Southampton.
Rashford has been in poor form since last season. In the new season, he has played 3 clean sheets in the matchday. Especially in the game where he lost 0-3 to Liverpool before the international break, he was booed by the Red Devils fans when he was substitute.
However, manager Erik ten Hag gave the 26-year-old a start at St Mary’s and netted his second of the game just before half-time.
Mental toughness is something Onana respects for the doctor-level homegrown player.
“You know he had a difficult season last year, he wasn’t at his best, like the rest of us. But today he showed himself, he’s a great player, one of the best in the world – football is like life, there are good days and bad days,” he told Football on TNT Sports.
“Sometimes you’ll get stuck, sometimes you’ll get in trouble. And it’s not how many times you fall, it’s how many times you get up – isn’t it?”
“He came back last time, scored, it was important for us and hopefully he can do more for the team. I’m happy for him. That score was really need.”
“There is a price to pay for playing for this amazing club.”
“Every game you lose feels like the world is ending ยูฟ่าเบท. But you have to stay strong, stick together and keep your head down.”
Last season, Rashford scored just seven goals in the league, compared to 17 in 2022-23.
